Does Snoei keep the addresses I enter?
No. The address goes to our server, which requests the page and sends you the result. Then it is gone: no log of addresses, no storage of results.
Why does this go through a server and not in my browser?
For security reasons, browsers may not read other sites for you. So Snoei requests the page. What you download is made by your own browser.
Do I need an account?
No. No account, no email address, no cookies to track you.
The tools
Is it free?
Yes. No ads and no account. Snoei is a free tool by nealvdv, part of Handig. To avoid overloading sites, there is a pace limit per visitor.
Why does Snoei miss something I do see in my browser?
Snoei reads the page as the server sends it, without running scripts. It does not see what is only built in your browser.
Can I use Snoei for my own site?
That is what it is best for: finding broken links, filling in alt texts, checking your SEO and headers and seeing how your pages are shared.
Limits
Why does Snoei refuse a page?
Because it is behind a login, because robots.txt asks so, because it is an internal address, or because the site does not answer in time. Snoei always tells you why.
Can Snoei crawl a whole site?
No, deliberately not. One page at a time. Reading a sitemap is possible: that is the list a site offers itself.
Can Snoei gather email addresses or phone numbers?
No. Snoei refuses, to prevent it from being used for spam. It only counts how many such links are on a page.
